Hooked fighters and soaked up reef breezes on Tampa's flats!
Non-stop bites all day long! Our crew hit the Tampa flats during spring for a late afternoon session under clear conditions throughout the day. The water was perfect for sight fishing as we worked the shallow areas looking for cruisin' the flats opportunities.
With our gear rigged and ready, we focused on sight fishing and wade fishing techniques with fly rods in hand. Hooked a few fighters including some solid Mahi Mahi that put up quite the fight in the backcountry waters. Tampa's flats are perfect for this style of fishing because the clear water lets you spot fish from a distance before making your cast. We soaked in the reef breeze and cruised back with a grin after tight lines all afternoon.

Y'all would have loved seeing those Mahi Mahi come up on the flats - not something you see every day in this gator country. The bite was hot once we found the right spots, and working the spread with fly gear made for some memorable hookups.
